Zircon sand, also known as zirconium silicate or zircon, is a mineral primarily composed of zirconium silicate.
Appearance: Pure zircon sand is a colorless transparent crystal, but it is often colored yellow, orange, red, brown, etc., depending on the origin and the type and amount of impurities. Its crystal structure belongs to the tetragonal crystal system, appearing as tetragonal pyramidal columns. Its specific gravity ranges from 4.6 to 4.71, with variations sometimes related to composition and alteration. Zircon has incomplete cleavage, a uniform Mohs hardness of 7–8, a refractive index of 1.93–2.01, and a melting point that varies between 2190°C and 2420°C depending on impurities.
