Natural Rutile
Natural rutile is essentially high-purity titanium dioxide and serves as a crucial mineral resource for titanium extraction. It possesses exceptional properties, including resistance to high and low temperatures, corrosion resistance, high strength, and low specific gravity.
Appearance: Natural rutile usually appears reddish-brown to almost black, with a pale brown streak, an adamantine to submetallic luster, and distinct prismatic cleavage. It has a Mohs hardness of 6.5 and a specific gravity of 4.
our applications
Rutile itself is an essential raw material for high-quality welding electrodes and is also the optimal feedstock for producing pigments and rutile-type titanium dioxide.

Frequently asked questions
Rutile is a strategic mineral resource of high economic value, with its core applications concentrated in high-end industrial and chemical sectors. Its primary use is as a premium raw material for producing titanium dioxide, the most high-performance white pigment, which is extensively used in paints, plastics, paper, inks, and cosmetics for its exceptional opacity, whiteness, and stability. Concurrently, rutile serves as a key starting material for manufacturing titanium tetrachloride, which is further processed to produce high-purity titanium sponge (metallic titanium) and is central to the chloride process for titanium dioxide production. Furthermore, high-grade rutile is directly used in coatings for welding electrodes and wires, where it significantly stabilizes the arc and improves weld quality. In the ceramics industry, rutile is also an important component in colored glazes.
